Q&A Monday: Exhaustion, Adrenal Fatigue and How to De-Stress?

Q: Dear Dr,

May I kindly ask if there is any help for people who have adrenal fatigue, anything for nervous people that can help?

A: First off, I thank you for the compliment of addressing me as a doctor, but I just want to set the record straight.  While it’s very flattering, I am not a doctor. I’m simply a teacher of health and wellness.  Maybe I was a doctor in a past life though!

To answer your question, there is a Chinese Reflexology point for the adrenal glands. If your adrenal glands are fatigued, you can strengthen and increase the Qi (life force energy) flowing through your adrenals by massaging the Chinese Reflexology point for the adrenal glands.

This can help to rebalance the flow of energy through your adrenals. When the energy is in harmony, this promotes healing in your physical body.

The reflexology point for the adrenals is a small circle located above the Kidney point. You have one on the sole of your left foot as well as on your right foot. (See below on how to locate the Kidney reflexology point.)

You can use the knuckle of your index finger to press into this point. Then twist your wrist as if you’re jiggling a door knob. Feel free to massage this point several times a day for 15 to 30 seconds at a time, up to a total of 2 minutes a day.

I would also recommend massaging your Kidney point. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the kidneys are considered the “root of life” and are the source of your primordial Qi. Massaging this point can help to boost your overall energy.

Adrenal fatigue is often the result of chronic stress. I know you already know this because you’re asking about nervousness. The Kidney point can help with nervousness, depending on what energy disharmonies are causing the anxiety.

I would also suggest massaging the Chinese Reflexology for the heart. In Chinese Medicine, the heart and mind have a symbiotic relationship. The heart anchors the mind and when the Heart Qi is weak, it can’t adequately anchor the mind, so the mind can then “float” and basically, get out of control with overthinking and worry. The Heart point is located on the sole of your LEFT foot only, right next to the Kidney point.

To help you locate the reflexology points for the adrenal glands, kidneys and heart, I invite you to download your free Chinese Reflexology chart. You’ll also receive free online lessons on how to use the charts, including a lesson specifically on the Kidney point (Lesson 3).

I hope you’re feeling better soon and please remember, don’t sweat the small stuff. Life can be amazing if you allow your worries to float away like clouds in the sky. 🙂

Wishing You Amazing Health and Vitality,

Holly
